Spring break at school might have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still go on a getaway. The warm spring weather makes this a fantastic time to travel, but you might not have the time to take a cross-country trip. Fortunately, the Bayou State is home to all kinds of wonderful destinations. Check out some of the best places to visit in Louisiana this spring.

Baton Rouge

Even though Baton Rouge is less than two hours from Houma, you might not get a chance to visit very often. You can change that this spring by taking a trip to the Red Stick. If you’re a history buff, visit the U.S.S. Kidd Veterans Museum, the LSU Rural Life Museum, and the Capitol Park Museum. Oh, and your kids will love splashing around Blue Bayou and Dixie Landin’. Finally, don’t forget to check out the baseball and softball action at LSU.

St. Francisville

Are you feeling a little jealous of all those spring break photos filling your Instagram feed? You can create your Insta-worthy spring break album with a trip to St. Francisville. With historic homes and gorgeous gardens, you’ll run into photo ops at every turn. Plus, this gorgeous city has plenty of nature and culture to soak up.

If you want to get even more out of your trip, head to Parker Park in St. Francisville on May 6 for the First Annual Tell the Story Cultural Festival. You’ll celebrate various cultures through crafts, arts, music, and food at this festival, and it’s free to attend.

Grand Isle

Does your idea of a spring getaway include the beach? If so, Grand Isle is the perfect spot to visit this spring. With seven miles of public beaches, you can spend the entire trip soaking up the sand and surf. While there are many choices, the beach at Grand Isle State Park is outstanding. Plus, you’ll have access to nature trails and a large fishing pier. You can even camp at the state park to save on accommodations. Then you can drop a line or swim as soon as you wake up.

Ruston

Ruston might not be the first place that comes to mind when planning a trip, but the small city packs a big punch in the fun department. You can enjoy quite a thrill while flying down zip lines or try your hand at ax throwing. Additionally, the city has a golf course and lots of museums. Then there’s the food. Ruston has a surprising assortment of restaurants so that you won’t go hungry on your trip.

You don’t have to travel far to have an adventure this spring. Choose one of these destinations and start planning your trip. Before long, you’ll have enviable vacation stories to share with your friends.
