Break the Code at Breakin’ The Code – Houma’s Escape Room

Breakin' the Code Escape

Eight rooms. Multiple puzzles. A locked door. That’s what you’ll find at Breakin’ The Code.

The premise is simple. Each room has a theme, and you pick the one you want. You go in with some friends, and you solve puzzles in an effort to escape. You only have 45–60 minutes to make it out, depending on the room. If you make it out in time, you have the honor of breaking the code.

Ready to give it a try? Here are a few tips.

Pay Attention to the Experience Level

There’s always that one group that somehow ends up in an expert room when trying an escape room for the first time. If you don’t mind banging your head against the wall a few thousand times, give it a try, but if you like to ease into things, go with an easier room. Breakin’ The Code includes a difficulty rating next to all of the rooms on its website. It even lists the solve rate. As of this writing, The Chamber still has a zero percent escape rate. If you have a little bit of experience, give that one a try.

Ask for Clues

You do get some help from the outside world. The staff will provide you with a few clues, but use them wisely. Once you use your last clue, you’re on your own. That means you should take some time to try to solve the puzzle on your own before you ask for help.

Go High-Tech with Frequency

After you become an escape room pro, you have to try Frequency. This room has some cool technology, and it’s one of the hardest escape rooms you’ll ever find. It has a 20 percent success rate and a really cool story. You have to try to rescue a doctor, and the only way to do that is to examine his experiments. You don’t need a Ph.D. to make it through, but you do need to be good at puzzles… or at least build a team full of skilled puzzle-solvers.

Escape rooms are so much fun, and the one in Houma is one of the best. Buying cars is fun too, and you also have access to a top-notch dealership in Houma.
