Take a Geocaching Adventure at Cache de Bayou

Cache de Bayou

If you’re a long-time geocacher, you know just how much fun it can be. However, if you’ve never heard of geocaching before, you’re in for a real treat. Geocaching is a modern kind of treasure hunt in which you use a GPS system – usually on a smartphone – to locate treasures left by others involved in the activity. You can find a lot of cool things doing this, and you can even leave something for someone else to find.

Although you can go geocaching anytime or anywhere, Cache de Bayou is your opportunity to meet some friends while doing it. That way, you get to connect with the community during one of your favorite activities. How fun!

Cache de Bayou will take place Oct.13–15, so you have plenty of time to catch the different activities planned. Check out what to expect below.

Friday, October 13

This is the first day of the event, so get ready for a lot of fun. From 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., there will be a “cache and release” mixer where you can meet your fellow geocachers and figure out the best coordinates for the days ahead. Treat yourself to some light refreshments or take a tour of the gator farm while you’re there. For even more fun, the event will feature a “Show Us Your Boots” competition in which you can decorate and wear your favorite rubber boots.

Saturday, October 14

On Saturday, you’ll have the opportunity to do some geocaching all day. Before you go out, though, make sure to get your grub on at the 8 a.m. breakfast mixer. This event will have a full breakfast, so you don’t need to fill up beforehand. When you’re done searching for GPS treasures, check out the Voice of the Wetlands festival, where several artists will be performing songs you’re sure to love.

Sunday, October 15

This is the last day of the event, and you can come enjoy coffee and donuts while catching up with other geocachers. If you return your completed Cache de Bayou game piece, you can also receive a collectible coin to show that you participated in the event. This is a great chance to solidify all those friendships you’ve made over the past few days.

Registration is completely FREE, so don’t hesitate to sign up and get in on the fun.

While you may have to search for your geocaching treasures, you don’t have to search long for a great dealership near you. Come visit us at Barker Buick GMC in Houma, Louisiana, for the best prices around.
