Crescent Park Trail
This trail begins at Elysian Fields Avenue and N Peters Street. It ends at Chartres Street and Mazant Street. The trail spans just 1.4 miles, so it’s perfect for a moderately-paced walk. Plus, the trail is asphalt, so it has an even surface. You’ll notice that it is also well-maintained. Crescent Park is on the banks of the famous Mississippi River, not far from the equally well-known French Quarter in New Orleans. This trail is fun for bikers, so expect to see many of them the next time you go. The trail undoubtedly offers gorgeous views of the river and convenient access to nearby neighborhoods. You can park in lots just off Chartres Street and Piety Street and off Mazant Street on the east.
Lafitte Greenway
For a little longer walk, try this one. It’s not far from Crescent Park either. The entire walk is 2.6 miles, beginning at N. Alexander Street and St. Louis Street and ending at St. Louis Street and Basin Street. It’s also an asphalt-surface trail, so it’s smooth all the way. The trail is wheelchair accessible and perfect for walkers, bikers, and inline skaters. It nicely connects neighborhoods in the New Orleans area and provides great views of the city. The trail goes through a 1,300-acre park, including a miniature golf course, a children’s theme park, and a museum.

Mississippi River Trail
Here’s one that you can choose and take bits and pieces of the trail as you have time. The Mississippi River Trail spans nearly 61 miles. It’s a system of paved trails along the banks of the river. You can walk any stretch of the trail. It’s especially popular for bikers. This trail is asphalt the entire way and goes from Audubon Park in New Orleans to Patterson Drive in Algiers Point and SR 18 in St. James Parish. The trail is often busy, so plan accordingly. Moreover, along the trail, feel free to take a break and do some fishing in the river.
