Head Out To The South Louisiana Dragway Reunion Cacklefest and Car Show

Cacklefest

Drag racing is as much a part of Louisiana as crawfish and LSU football. There’s just something about hanging out at the drag strip that gets your blood pumping. As you probably know, though, some of the most iconic drag racing tracks have closed over the years. The tracks may have closed, but the fans have not forgotten them. Celebrate some of the most iconic tracks at the South Louisiana Dragway Reunion Cacklefest and Car Show on Nov. 30 to Dec. 1. The event will kick off with a car cruise through the Bayou Country. The next day, you’ll head to the Outback, Chili’s, Hooters, and Walmart parking lots on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for the reunion, which will feature three iconic drag strips.

Day One – The Car Cruise and Meet and Greet

Do you love old vehicles? The car cruise is going to be insane. It’ll start at the Bayou Country Visitor Center at 8 a.m., and it’ll pass by some of the coolest spots in Houma. It’s not just a sightseeing cruise, though. It’s also a poker run.

When it ends at 4 p.m., it’ll be almost time for the reunion meet and greet. While the location for the meet and greet hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’ll run from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., and tickets are $25. It’ll have all kinds of cool activities, including famous vehicles and vintage photos. The best part is the open mic storytelling, though. Listen as people get on the mic to talk about their days on the racetrack. Also, don’t be afraid to chime in if you have a story to tell.

Day Two – The Reunion and Cacklefest

The second day is when the event really heats up. This year, the event is honoring the Southland Dragway, Pel State Dragway, and LaPlace Dragway. The organizers hope to feature vehicles that used to race on those famous drag strips. There will be other cool vehicles there as well.

It’s not just about the vehicles, though. There’ll be music, merchandise, and grilling stations with food and drinks. The food and drinks will come from Outback, Hooters, and Chili’s menus, so you can easily find your favorite items.

Cacklefest is going to be one of the biggest vehicle events of the year. Can you imagine pulling up in your current vehicle? You would have so much more confidence in a new ride. Visit us at  Barker Buick GMC in Houma, Louisiana, and get your new set of wheels. Then, you can pull up to the event with pride.
