Clean Up Your Car This Summer With These Car Scratch Removers!
Published on: June 8th, 2020
Scratches happen. No matter how careful you are with your vehicle, those stray shopping carts, surprise curbs, and neighboring car doors all have the potential to blemish your beautiful paint job without warning. Fortunately, many of these marks can be corrected by using the right scratch remover.
Selecting a Scratch Remover
There’s no shortage of scratch removers and waxes on the market today, so you’ll need to consider the vehicle you’re working on. Some products like Mookis Car Scratch Remover can be used on all paint colors, and water-based formulas like Bubba’s Super Scratch Remover are safe to apply to clearcoats. If you’re dealing with oxidized surfaces on your body panels or around your headlights, Turtle Wax Polishing Compound and Scratch Remover is a well-established and affordable solution. To avoid excessive wear from overly abrasive products, consider Meguiar’s G17216 Ultimate Compound.
Prepare Your Vehicle
To begin, wait for warm, clear weather, then wash the car. Any dirt or particles stuck on the surface could cause new abrasions while you try to remove the scratches, making things worse instead of better. When the car is clean, step back to let it dry.
When the surface is ready for repair, carefully read the instructions for the remover you’ve selected. Every maker uses their own unique formula, so the dosage and application method for one brand might not be fitting for another. Generally, you can use a microfiber cloth to apply the remover to light scratches, then wipe it back and forth. For deeper marks, start by carefully smoothing the edges with extra-fine sandpaper. Wipe away any residue caused by sanding, then apply the remover with a soft cloth. To finish the job, apply a wax coat.
