Don’t Miss The Terrebonne Games Expo!

Board Game

Board Game

The Terrebonne Games Expo returns to Houma, LA on June 24, 2018, at the Terrebonne Parish Main Library. The Expo will begin at 3:00 P.M. and will include board games, card games, computer games, and life-sized games, as well.

Gamers of All Ages Welcome

All age gamers are welcome at this event and especially younger age gamers. In past expos, life-sized games have included jumbo Jenga, giant dominoes, and mega Snakes and Ladders. Vendors from various gaming companies from all across Southern Louisiana will also be on site for the event.

Get Your Cosplay On

One of the highlights of the Terrebonne Games Expo is cosplay. If you’re not familiar with cosplay, it’s basically advanced character costuming. Participants dress like their favorite characters from various games, videos, and/or shows. It’s highly encouraged at the expo and even if you don’t choose to participate – it makes for fun people watching.

Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, & More

Come to the Expo and participate in a friendly competition in Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, and other card-based games. There will also be computer games on display and past Expos have featured retro video games.

“Build Your Own” Game

Last year’s Terrebonne Games Expo featured a workshop where you could learn to build your own board game. In addition, the gaming vendors at the expo will have staff on hand to explain how to play any of the established games if you are new to the gaming community.

Game Shops in the Houma, LA Area

Houma, LA has some great game shops to visit if you’d like to take up gaming as a hobby or meet other fellow gamers. Be sure to check out EOT (End of Turn) Games on Enterprise Drive in Houma. EOT Games carries Magic the Gathering, Yu-gi-oh, Force of Will, Warhammer 40K, and other consoles, card, and PC games. The shop also hosts weekly gameplay and gamer group meetups.

More About the Terrebonne Games Expo

The Terrebonne Games Expo was inspired by the popularity of gaming at the Terrebonne Parish Library’s annual comic con event. The library wanted to create an event specifically centered on gaming and bring gamers of all ages together.

While gaming is fun, it also builds communication, critical thinking, strategy, and logic skills. If you’d like more information on the Terrebonne Games Expo, contact Naomi Magola at 985-876-5861.
